STRONGER TOGETHER

DELIVERING SAFE, RELIABLE DRINKING WATER.
CIWW is a regional authority responsible for the treatment of drinking water,
serving more than 600,000 people living in Central Iowa.
COLLABORATION

Local communities, utilities, and rural providers working together to ensure a reliable water supply now and in the future.

RESILIENCE

Maintaining a robust water system that can withstand challenges and meet the future needs of a growing, dynamic metro area.

PLANNING

Strategically planning for new and expanded water treatment facilities while protecting source water for the next generation.

ABOUT

Central Iowa Water Works (CIWW) was formally founded on April 11, 2024, when 12 entities representing local communities, utilities and rural providers came together to establish the first-ever regional drinking water authority for the metro.

Collaboration among 12 founding entities.

Shared governance of water production.

Resiliency that assures future access and supply.

Local independence with regional water production.

CIWW Board

Unified voice in source water protection.

CIWW does not replace local water utilities, rural providers or city water departments. They remain the contacts for new accounts, bill-paying and customer service. Find your local provider here.

SAYLORVILLE TREATMENT PLANT EXPANSION

One of the first projects for Central Iowa Water Works is the expansion of the Saylorville Water Treatment Plant. This project will double the capacity of the plant, ensuring water for western areas of the metro including Johnston. The project features installation of 36-inch and 48-inch-diameter feeder mains.
